GeoRunners
Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the GeoRunners website and app. Please read them before creating an account.
Effective and last updated: 6 August 2026
Agreement
By creating an account or using GeoRunners, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. About GeoRunners
GeoRunners is operated by Daniel Trevor in the United Kingdom (“GeoRunners”, “we”, “us” or “our”). It is a recreational running challenge service that turns recorded or self-reported running distance into progress along virtual representations of real-world routes.
These Terms apply alongside any mandatory terms of the platform from which you downloaded the app. Apple and other platform providers are not responsible for operating or supporting GeoRunners.
2. Who may use the service
You must be at least 13 and legally able to agree to these Terms. If the law where you live requires permission from a parent or guardian, you must have it. You must also satisfy Strava's eligibility rules if you choose to connect a Strava account.
3. Accounts
- Provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date.
- Keep your password and device secure, and do not share access to your account.
- Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.
4. Runs, challenges and results
- Runs may be imported from Strava or added manually. Manual runs are shown as manual so participants can understand their source.
- You must submit runs honestly. Do not fabricate distance, manipulate recordings, impersonate another runner or exploit technical faults to alter a result.
- Each challenge's dates, type, visibility, joining policy and other displayed rules form part of that challenge. Progress and winners are calculated from eligible activity under those rules.
- Organisers may manage participation. GeoRunners may correct data, remove ineligible activity or disqualify accounts where reasonably necessary to preserve challenge integrity. A change can cause standings or a winner to be recalculated.
- Unless expressly stated otherwise, challenges are informal and recreational. GeoRunners does not promise prizes, official race certification or independently verified results.
Syncs and calculations can be delayed or affected by edits, deleted activities, provider availability, time zones or incomplete data. If something looks wrong, contact the organiser or GeoRunners Support.
5. Visibility and invitations
Your display name, avatar, participation, run contributions, progress, standings and results may be visible to other users according to a challenge's visibility and membership. Do not put sensitive or confidential information in display names, challenge content, route labels or run notes. Only invite people you are entitled to contact.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of content you create or submit. You grant GeoRunners a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, display, adapt and process that content only as needed to operate, secure, maintain and improve the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where a limited copy must remain temporarily in backups or for legal reasons.
You confirm that you have the right to submit your content and that it does not violate another person's privacy, intellectual property or other rights.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use GeoRunners for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, abusive or harassing activity;
- upload malicious code or attempt to bypass security or access another account;
- scrape, overload, disrupt, reverse engineer or misuse the service or its APIs;
- use another person's personal information without a lawful reason;
- infringe intellectual property or remove GeoRunners branding or notices; or
- help another person do any of the above.
8. Running and route safety
GeoRunners does not provide medical advice, emergency services or turn-by-turn navigation. Challenge routes are visualisations and may be unsuitable, inaccessible, inaccurate or outdated. Always choose a safe route for your ability and conditions, obey local laws and closures, remain aware of traffic and surroundings, and stop if it is unsafe to continue. Consult a qualified professional before exercise if you have health concerns.
You are responsible for deciding whether, where and how to run.
9. Third-party services
GeoRunners uses services supplied by Strava, Google Maps Platform, Supabase and Cloudflare. Their services are governed by their own terms and policies. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party availability, content, decisions or changes. You may disconnect Strava at any time from your profile.
If you connect Strava, you must also comply with the Strava Terms of Service (opens in a new tab).
10. GeoRunners ownership
GeoRunners and its software, design, branding and other materials (excluding your content and third-party materials) are owned by Daniel Trevor or licensed to him. You receive a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use GeoRunners in accordance with these Terms.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep GeoRunners available and accurate, but do not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanent service. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features for maintenance, security, legal, provider or product reasons. Where practical, we will give appropriate notice of a material change.
12. Suspension, termination and deletion
We may restrict or suspend access where we reasonably believe an account breaches these Terms, threatens the service or another person, or where required by law. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow an appeal by email.
You may stop using GeoRunners at any time and can permanently delete your account in Profile → Delete my account. See the Privacy Policy for what deletion does.
13. Disclaimers and liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your mandatory consumer rights.
Subject to that, GeoRunners is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss, loss caused by third-party services or inaccurate user-supplied data, or injury or damage arising from a route or running decision that GeoRunners did not cause through a breach of legal duty.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to GeoRunners, providers or the law. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will give appropriate notice of material changes. If you do not accept an updated version, you should stop using the service and delete your account before it takes effect.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer elsewhere you retain any mandatory rights and may be entitled to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
